Ankylostomiasis

A disease due to the presence of the parasites Agchylostomaduodenale, Uncinaria (subgenus Necator) americana, or alliednematodes, in the small intestine. When present in large numbers theyproduce a severe anæmia by sucking the blood from the intestinalwalls. Called also miner's anæmia, tunnel disease, brickmaker'sanæmia, Egyptian chlorosis.
