An unsymmetrical, divalent, hydrocarbon radical, C2H4 metamericwith ethylene but written thus, CH3.CH to distinguish it from thesymmetrical ethylene, CH2.CH2. Its compounds are derived fromaldehyde. Formerly called also ethidene.
