Exterminate is the sound a Dalek makes before it fires its Extermination Ray. So far, only two things have negated its effect: a fully-functional forcefield powered by an extrapolater; the Time And Relative Dimensions In Space, directed through Rose.

        To kill on mass

              /ikˈstərməˌnāt/
              verb
A word synonymous with kill or eradicate, EXTERMINATE is often used in generic sci-fi TV shows and movies by [faceless] robotic soldiers in an effort to make them sound much more dangerous than an organic [foot soldier], often times failing and making the generic sci-fi media even more generic. The only exception appears to be the [Daleks] from Doctor Who, who manage to live up to their lust for destruction of all life in the universe.
