Kathy Griffin is a comedian who thrives on drama and outrageousness. She went too far with one bit and apologized almost immediately (which shows that she knows how serious the mistake was). She’ll lose some opportunities and some money because of this in the short term but she's been in the business for a long time and knows how to navigate the ups and downs of being offensive. And even if brands shun her - say no network wants to air her or publisher wants her next book or company wants her in their ads - for a while because her image is too toxic for them to work with, she’ll still be able to tour her live stand-up, which pays well at her level. And eventually this will be just a blip in her long career.
