Any one of several species of spiny-rayed marine fishesbelonging to Uranoscopus, Astroscopus, and allied genera, of thefamily Uranoscopidæ. The common species of the Eastern United Statesare Astroscopus anoplus, and A. guttatus. So called from the positionof the eyes, which look directly upward.
