adj. Sleazy, disgusting, distasteful, shady, gross, creepy, icky. This slang word was popular in Brooklyn, NY, USA in the 1950s and 1960s. It comes from the Italian word Schifo; meaning, disgust.

The word also came from a twitter message written by New Kids on the Block member, Jonathan Knight, on July 11th, 2009 around 9:45 AM, EST as a reply to jordan_doll who seemed to have doubted the existence of this word in the vernacular. Little did jordan_doll know, that indeed, Jonathan was right, as it IS a word with a real definition, and a very old history of it as well! :D

A word used to describe things or people that are generally gross. Appropriate when talking about things that are unclassy, greasy, unsanitary, and overall undesirable and nasty.
