Hans Christian Joachim Gram was a Danish bacteriologist known for his development of the Gram stain, a method of staining bacterial cells to better identify and classify bacteria. Born in Denmark in 1853, he contributed significantly to the world of microbiology and his Gram stain method is still used widely in microbiology labs around the world.
