In 1974, on [Hedges] Avenue a meeting of Secondary School graduates convened to [organise] a schedule of events for the week.
These events were held at private homes plus some were held at the Old Broadbeach Hotel [beer garden].
The term Schoolies was used on all flyers that promoted the events.
