<p dir="auto">The word has an etymological connection with the English term sheriff due to the nature of [Sharifs] to be enforcers, authoritative and their generally dictator like demeanour.</p>
<p dir="auto">In Arabic/Persian however, the word Sharif means honorable.</p>
