Mycteroperca bonaci, also known as the black grouper, is a species of marine fish in the family Serranidae. These fish inhabit the tropical and subtropical waters of the Atlantic Ocean, ranging from Massachusetts in the USA to southern Brazil, including the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. They are mostly found in reefs and are known for their high quality meat, making them a valuable species in commercial and recreational fishing. Black groupers can grow up to 150 centimeters in length and weigh up to 100 kilograms.
